RCPL was proud to host its 40th annual event – The Lunch for the Disabled on 22 October at the Chinese social club, Hua Lien. The event was celebrated with the usual enthusiasm and gaiety. From 9 homes across the island 199 Beneficiaries, the oldest being of 99 years, attended. The guests were escorted from their respective homes by teams of Rotarians and Ladies while the other members were involved in setting up the spacious dining arena and welcoming and assisting the guests to be seated at their tables on arrival. The lunch was assisted by 25 Rotarians and ladies, 5 Rotaracts and 14 Rotary kids. The latter also orchestrated an impromptu dance show and a melodious musical recital. Besides the usual live entertainment by professional singers and musicians, the guests were thrilled by the presence of Mami Cloun, the local mimicry star who took time to take pictures in groups with the enthralled guests. The day ended with performances by the guests themselves excelling in songs and recitation before all of us joined into the merriment – dancing, singing.
